I'm Anastasia. I read manuscripts the way readers eventually will, without the fondness a writer has for their own words.
Most books already know what they're trying to say. They just haven't found the shortest path there yet. That's the part I'm drawn to, the gap between the book on the page and the one that's almost there. Non-fiction is my territory: memoirs that need a truer shape, histories and business books still circling their own point. I don't offer comfort.
