I take small, well-defined coding jobs: a script that does one thing properly, a bug that needs finding, code that used to work and stopped, a quick internal tool or integration. Mostly Python. The first thing I ask for is a way to reproduce the problem - the failing input, a sample file, the exact error. Half the fix is usually in there, and I would rather hit the edge case now than after delivery.
