I was commissioned to create a dynamic anime/manga-style illustration focused on an explosive effect interacting with a moving vehicle. The goal of the project was to visually communicate impact, motion, and intensity in a way that aligns with traditional anime action scenes. I developed the composition around the car’s travel path, carefully staging the explosion to feel integrated into the scene rather than separate from it. To enhance realism and storytelling, I illustrated the vehicle in a bent and distorted form, emphasizing the force and direction of the blast. This helped convey both motion and physical impact in a single frame. The explosion itself was designed using stylized anime effects, including exaggerated energy bursts, sharp line work, and layered motion elements. I focused on achieving a balance between dramatic visual appeal and clarity, ensuring that the scene remained readable while still feeling intense and energetic. Throughout the process, I paid close attention to perspective, timing, and visual flow, making sure the viewer’s eye naturally follows the action from the car’s movement into the explosion. The final artwork successfully captured a high-impact moment with strong anime aesthetics and storytelling.
