As an aspiring memoirist and host for a book club podcast focused on memoir and self-help books, I have read hundreds of memoirs. I'd love to read yours and provide useful feedback! I bring a trauma-informed approach to working with memoirists who are writing about difficult subjects.
Beta reading is the next step after you've completed a manuscript. I'll approach your memoir from the reader's perspective and let you know what's working and what's not. Beta reading is a good option for authors on a smaller budget looking for feedback before diving into revisions. I'm happy to beta-read literary fiction novels and self-help books, as well!
In my one-page reader report, I'll provide feedback on readability, pacing and flow, and plot.
Please note, this package does not include any in-line comments or suggestions. If you are looking for a more in-depth edit, including a multipage editorial letter and in-line suggestions throughout the manuscript, please check out my developmental editing gig.
If you used generative AI to write your book, we will not be a good fit.

What types of editing do you offer?
I work with authors on all stages of the editing process, beta reading and developmental editing to line editing, copyediting, and proofreading. Not sure which type of edit you need for your project? Reach out and I’m happy to take a look at your manuscript and let you know!
What is the difference between beta reading and developmental edit?
A developmental edit is much more in-depth and thorough. My beta reading package includes 1 page of feedback on what's working well with your manuscript and where to focus in revision, while my developmental edit package includes 3-5 pages of feedback as well as detailed in-line comments throughout.
