No! That’s the beauty of headless CMS. I will keep your existing Next.js or React frontend exactly as it is, and simply replace the hard-coded data with dynamic API calls to Payload.
2. Can Payload CMS live in the same repository as my Next.js site?
Yes! If you are using Next.js, Payload can be installed directly within the same Next.js repository (especially with Payload 3.0+), making deployment and hosting incredibly simple and cost-effective.
3. I have an old WordPress/Contentful site. Can you move my data?
Yes. If you provide an export (JSON, CSV, or API access) of your old data, I can write migration scripts to safely move all your articles, images, and user data into your new Payload CMS database.
4. What do you need from me to get started?
I will need access to your existing frontend codebase (via GitHub, GitLab, etc.), a brief explanation of which parts of the site you want to make editable, and any design files if we are adding new dynamic sections.
5. Where will the database and images be stored?
Payload works seamlessly with MongoDB or Postgres. I can help you set up a cloud database (like MongoDB Atlas, Vercel Postgres, or Supabase) and configure cloud storage (like AWS S3) for your media uploads.
