Over video chat, we will have a virtual drumming lesson! I am a professional drummer in Portland, OR, and am here to guide interested students to their drumming goals. Music is my passion and I love drumming. I'm here to support you and to help you to meet your goals (and be accountable for them!).
Are you a beginner? No problem. We'll talk about what we need to do to get you started on your drumming path. What if you're an advanced player? Also no problem, because I've got a lot of resources and guidance for even the most seasoned percussionist. Even if you just have a lot of time on your hands, and want to come up with a fun new hobby, reach out and let's start the conversation.
I've been studying the drums for over 10 years, have been taking lessons and learning from legendary players like Kenwood Dennard (Miles Davis, Quincy Jones), Online Educator Mike Johnston (mikeslessons.com), and local pros in Portland OR. I also have worked at a drum shop for 3.5 years, and have been living and breathing drums since I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2014.

In my opinion, everyone is a drummer, so let's get started with talking about your goals. Drumming can be a beneficial way to release stress. Plus, studies have shown learning music helps with understanding and internalizing other subjects.
Do I need to be a certain age to take a drum lesson with you?
I have experience teaching people from 5 to 50. I do require adult supervision and consent with students under 18 years old before we start the lesson.

The communication was great! He was patient with my 6 year old who was initially all over the place but once she saw his skills she became amazed and wanted to practice. His teaching style flows nicely, super helpful, and very experienced. We received daily homework that really helps get my little one...

It was a great intro to the drums including playing + intro to different types of drums and where to buy them. Started with the djembe and Mr. Wxy helped with some basics.

Wes was an amazing instructor! I really enjoyed my first lesson with him and plan to have subsequent lessons! He was professional, responded quickly, and was incredibly knowledgeable and skilled! I would definitely recommend lessons from him! :D
