During my internship, I have worked at the intersection of cybersecurity, infrastructure monitoring, and network operations, with a strong focus on improving the security, visibility, and reliability of the company's IT infrastructure. My main responsibilities include infrastructure and security monitoring using Zabbix and Grafana, where I monitor servers, firewalls, network links, VPN connections, printers, DVRs, and other critical infrastructure components. I develop and maintain monitoring solutions, alerts, dashboards, and automated mechanisms to identify failures, anomalies, and potential security-related events before they significantly impact the environment. I am also involved in security assessments and penetration testing, analyzing systems, network services, web applications, and infrastructure components to identify vulnerabilities and security weaknesses. I use an offensive security approach to understand how vulnerabilities could be exploited and, when applicable, help define remediation and hardening measures to reduce the associated risks. Another part of my work involves network security and infrastructure hardening, including pfSense firewalls, VPN infrastructure, firewall policies, DNS security, traffic monitoring, and security tools such as Suricata and pfBlockerNG. I also work with Windows and Linux environments, investigating logs, connectivity issues, services, and abnormal behavior. I have developed and implemented solutions to automate the detection and handling of infrastructure problems, as well as statistical monitoring mechanisms to identify network anomalies based on historical behavior. This allows the IT team to move from a reactive approach toward a more proactive security and infrastructure monitoring model.
