Media Optimization & CDN Hosting System Automation

This project involved building an advanced media processing and hosting workflow for a client managing large volumes of high resolution images within their database. The client faced challenges with slow website performance and manual image optimization, which was time consuming and inefficient. To address this, I developed a fully automated system using Make (formerly Integromat), with Airtable serving as the central database and Cloudinary handling media processing and hosting. The workflow is triggered whenever new images are added or updated in Airtable. Using iterators, the system breaks down multiple image uploads within a single record and processes each file individually. Each image is then sent to Cloudinary, where it is automatically optimized resized, compressed, and transformed for fast web delivery. Different processing branches were implemented using routers to handle various image categories such as product galleries, thumbnails, and banners. Each branch applies specific optimization rules tailored to its use case. After processing, an array aggregator collects all optimized image URLs and sends them back to Airtable, updating the original record with clean, fast loading CDN links. This automation eliminated the need for manual image handling, significantly improved website speed, and ensured consistent media optimization across the platform. It also provided a scalable solution capable of handling growing media demands without additional workload.
