Born and raised in New Zealand, far away from the rest of the world, travel has always intrigued me. Last year I spent six months weaving my way through Central America, focusing on getting off the tourist trail. I travelled slowly through every country in the region - staying in a mix of hostels, local guesthouses, and AirBnB's, keeping an eye on daily costs and logistics.
