I will create you a simple game using GameMaker.

Top-Down style with simple movement (WASD, arrows and Controller Support), a block and object collisions. Room swapper (within Fading Effect). And a very simple Menu (Title and Play button!)


The code is all well commented and you will be able to understand everything about it.
