Want to ensure your neurodivergent characters are written accurately and realistically? I can help!
I'm Emily, an autistic author and avid reader, and I want to help you ensure your neurodivergent characters are portrayed accurately and inclusively. Not only am I neurodivergent, but I have spent most of my adult life working with children with various conditions under the neurodivergent umbrella. With my professional and personal experience, I can ensure your neurodivergent characters are written accurately and respectfully.
While there are a multitude of conditions under the neurodivergent umbrella, I am most equipped to read characters with the following conditions:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Depression
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
You will receive in-line comments in either a MS Word document or a Google Doc, along with a one page reader report upon completion.

Do you read for every neurodivergent condition?
Due to the expansiveness of the neurodivergent umbrella, there are some conditions I am not knowledgeable enough to give feedback on. I have included the conditions I am comfortable reading for in my gig description.
Is this the same as a beta read?
No. This service is specific to sensitivity readings of stories portraying neurodivergent characters. My feedback will focus solely on the portrayal of any neurodivergent characters in your story. If you wish for a full beta read, you can check my beta reading services in my profile.
Do you rewrite anything?
No. My job as a sensitivity reader is to ensure your characters are being portrayed realistically, accurately, and respectfully. I may give suggestions on how you can change things around if there are concerns, but I will not rewrite any part of your work.
Do you do sensitivity reads for AI-generated or AI-assisted works?
No, I don’t.
Do you use AI in your feedback or reading process?
No. I am a human, and will give 100% human feedback.
