Will you only proofread and edit my story or will you also rewrite if necessary?
With proofreading and editing, we focus on correcting grammar, spelling, and flow, while making light rewrites for clarity. If more extensive rewriting is needed, this would fall under Section rewriting, where we take a deeper dive into your story’s structure, characters, and pacing.
What format should I send my book?
Preferably you can send it in Word or Google Docs format. If you only have it in PDF, we can convert it at no additional cost.
How do you mark changes?
We use Track Changes in Word so you can easily see and approve every edit we make. We'll deliver two documents: one showing all changes in red, and a clean, fully proofread version for your convenience.
What age levels can you edit for?
We edit children's books for all ages! From toddlers to tweens, we ensure vocabulary and sentence structure are perfect for your target age group.
Do you edit rhyming books?
Yes, we do! Editing rhymes requires a special touch, so it may cost a bit more. We check rhythm, meter, and consistency alongside the standard edits, making sure your rhymes flow naturally. Reach out with your project, and we'll assess what's needed.
What if I disagree with the changes?
You have the final say! We explain every edit so you can make informed decisions about whether to accept or decline them.
What style guide do you use?
We follow the Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS), the standard used by major children's publishers. If you have a specific style guide in mind, let us know—we're happy to accommodate!
Do you edit and proofread in American or British English?
We have native American and British English speakers on our team, and we can proofread in both styles.
Do you work in any language other than English?
We work with book editing and proofreading in English and Spanish.
