I work on-site in Pangcun, Luoyang, China — the industrial base that produces more than 70% of the country's steel office furniture. Every working day I deal with the factories here, not with a catalogue. What I do: - Source and inspect sheet metal products: filing cabinets, lockers, tool cabinets, office desks, gun safes and security cabinets. - Measure the real steel sheet thickness with a vernier caliper, and the powder coating thickness with a gauge. Steel thinner than stated is the most common problem in this industry, and most buyers only find out after the goods arrive. - Follow orders on the production line: cutting, bending, stamping, welding, phosphating, powder coating, assembly and packing. - Inspect the goods before loading and photograph the container loading, so the buyer sees what actually went in. - Compare quotes, MOQ and lead times across several factories for the same drawing, and report the differences in plain numbers. 【X】 years in this cluster. I work in Chinese and report in English in writing — photos, video and a written report. No voice or video calls.
