A book translation should read like a German original - without losing the voice, tone or meaning of your English text.
I manually translate fiction, nonfiction, manuscripts and selected long-form content from English into natural German. As a native German speaker, university lecturer, author and experienced editor, I combine close attention to the source with a careful German-language edit.
Every package includes:
- fully manual English-to-German translation
- complete comparison with the source text
- a separate German style and proofreading pass
- consistency checks for names, terminology and recurring phrases
- preservation of simple Word formatting
The Basic package is ideal for a short excerpt or paid sample. Please contact me before ordering a full chapter, book, series, specialist text or complex file. I will review the material and create a realistic custom offer.

Is the translation fully manual?
Yes. I translate directly from the English source and do not use machine- or AI-generated drafts. I then complete a separate source check and German-language editing pass.
Do you translate both fiction and nonfiction?
Yes. I work with fiction, nonfiction, books, manuscripts, guides and selected long-form content. Please send an excerpt first if the text is highly specialized or contains complex terminology.
Can you translate a full book or series?
Yes, after reviewing the manuscript. Full books and series are quoted as custom offers with realistic milestones, delivery dates and consistency rules.
What does your revision include?
One revision covers adjustments to the agreed brief. Changes to the English source, a new target audience or new style instructions after delivery require a separate offer.
Will you preserve my formatting?
I preserve simple formatting in editable Word files. Tables, footnotes, references, text in images and complex layouts must be reviewed before ordering. Typesetting is not included.
How do you keep names and terminology consistent?
I track recurring names, forms of address, key terms and project-specific choices. For longer projects, I maintain a project glossary or consistency sheet.
Which German variant do you use?
Standard German is the default. Austrian or Swiss German conventions can be discussed before ordering.
Will my manuscript remain confidential?
Yes. Your text is treated confidentially and will not be used as a portfolio sample. You must hold the rights required to commission the translation.
Do you provide certified or specialist translations?
No certified translations are offered. Legal, medical, scientific and highly technical texts are accepted only after an excerpt has been reviewed and may be declined.
Can I order a sample first?
Yes. The Basic package is designed for a short excerpt or paid sample so you can assess voice, tone and fit before commissioning a larger project.
