Ordering boards is when mistakes become money. Your DRC can be green and the fab DFM can smile, and the panels still come back dead. Nothing in the EDA stack checks the footprint against the real part, the connector against the enclosure, or the BOM against stock this week.
I'm a PM who crossed to the truck and the bench: Alarm.com emPower product work, Bright Wire Solutions low-voltage installs, and ESP32-S3 boards I design and order myself. I've eaten the passed-DRC failed-reality cost on my own carts.
What I check (severity-ranked PDF with annotated images):
footprint vs datasheet, power and thermal at your real input voltage, BOM buildability, mechanical and connector reality, boot straps pull-ups decoupling, and DRC suppressions someone clicked away.
You get exact fixes and datasheet citations, plus a re-review after you change things (per package revision rules).
This is an engineering risk review, not a certification. Your design stays confidential.

What files do you need to start?
Best case: your full KiCad project. Any other EDA works too - send the schematic PDF, gerbers, and BOM. Include datasheets for connectors and unusual parts, your intended input voltage, and enclosure constraints if any. The order form collects all of this.
Is my design confidential?
Yes. Your files are used only to perform your review - never shared, published, or reused. Nothing from your design appears in my portfolio; the samples shown are open-source boards reviewed with credit. Happy to work under your NDA.
What if you don't find anything major?
You still get the full scored checklist with verified strengths spelled out - knowing your board is clean BEFORE spending on fab is the point. I never pad findings: suspicions I refute during review are reported as strengths, not buried.
Do you use AI tools in the review?
Yes, openly: I run a systematic AI-assisted analysis pipeline I built for my own products - it covers the checks humans skim. Every finding is then personally verified before it ships. Anything that can't be backed by a datasheet citation or live stock data gets cut or marked VERIFY.
My board is still schematic-only. Can you review it before layout?
Absolutely - that's the cheapest time to catch problems. The Basic package covers schematic-only reviews: power architecture, boot straps, pin functions, part selection and stock. Come back at layout for the footprint and mechanical checks.
