I am a professional editor and proofreader with BA Hons in English and MA in English Literature from National University of Bangladesh. I have been teaching as an English Lecturer in a college for six years.

What kinds of errors are identified and fixed during proofreading?

Proofreading is about finding errors both small and large that were either missed or introduced during editing. Proofreaders ensure that the document's final draft is completely free of grammatical errors (e.g., subjectverb agreement problems, incorrect word choices, improper punctuation usage, and incorrect spelling) as well as formatting and typographical errors. They also make sure the document adheres to the chosen style guide.

In sum, proofreading is the process of correcting errors in grammar, spelling, mechanics, punctuation, and formatting.
