Utilising keys is an exceptional way to heighten the excitement and emotion of a song.


As a producer, I love to experiment with pianos, Rhodes, organs etc and make use of their timbre for multiple purposes. They're great in a conventional sense - filling space in a song with broad chords that help shift the harmonic movement throughout the emotional time line. They're also great in a non-conventional sense - using the lower octaves to support heavy, low tuned guitars! It's all about listening to the song and doing what is necessary.
